Conférence Permanente Européenne des Associations de Professeurs d’HistoireEuropean Standing Conference of History Teachers' Associations The Hague, 18 November 2002Dear members,In the past months we have informed you several times about the possibilityto apply for a Comenius grant from the European Union for the next EUROCLIOConference School History on the Move. Changes in the Learning and Teachingof History in the Decade of Educational Reforms, which will be held inBologna/Castel San Pietro, Italy, March 25-30, 2003.Unfortunately Brussels has recently revised its decision, which means thatthe Bologna Conference is officially no longer eligible for Comeniusbursaries. You understand that we are extremely annoyed about this decision, since we asked all of you to apply for bursaries. We know that for many ofyou a bursary is the only way to participate in this conference. We have contacted Brussels and after negotiations they leave the decision toaccept the conference under Comenius up to the National Agencies. On ourrequest Brussels has sent a message to all the National Agencies to ask forflexibility in delegating these bursaries. We hope that the NationalAgencies will act leniently in this case. If you have applied for a bursaryit is possibly best to contact your National Comenius Agency to find outwhat they have decided! The contact information for Comenius is to be foundon the Comenius web site: europa.eu.int/comm/education/socrates/comeniusHowever, the conference is now eligible under the Grundtvig programme. Thismeans that a maximum of four persons per country can receive a bursary. Forthose of you who have not applied for a Comenius bursary or are rejected forComenius it is possible to apply for a Grundtvig bursary. Please contactyour National Grundtvig Agency for more information and application formsand procedure. For contact information for Grundtvig please look on theGrundtvig web site: europa.eu.int/comm/education/socrates/adultIf you have any questions, please contact the EUROCLIO Secretariat. We are very sorry to bring you this news, but since it is still possible toapply we hope that many of you are successful in obtaining a bursary. Goodluck with your applications!Best regards,Willemijn van der Toorn.EUROCLIO SecretariatJuliana van Stolberglaan 412595 CA The HagueThe NetherlandsTel/fax: + 31 70 3853669E-mail: willemijn@euroclio.nlWeb site: www.eurocliohistory.org
